- SPOT, SCENE, AJX and the new SCOPE expand the fair beyond the main Gallery section
- Highlights include new artist collaborations spanning art, design, culture and creative partnerships
Art Jakarta returns to JIExpo Kemayoran from 2–4 October 2026, bringing 75 galleries to the Indonesian capital, including 19 first-time participants and 33 international galleries. The fair continues to position itself as a platform for Indonesia’s growing art ecosystem, with a dual focus on strengthening its domestic ecosystem while establishing itself as a nexus for art communities across the region and beyond.
Following the inaugural Art Jakarta Papers in February and the 5th edition of Art Jakarta Gardens in May, the flagship fair in October gathers the momentum of these programmes while continuing to present a broader view of contemporary art from the local scene and the wider region.
LARRY’S LIST takes a closer look at what to expect from this year’s edition.

Beyond the Traditional Booth
The fair’s programme once again extends beyond the main Gallery section.
SPOT presents works and installations that move beyond the conventional booth format, allowing galleries to explore different scales and spatial approaches to presenting art.
SCENE spotlights artist collectives and collaborative practices, reflecting the multiplicity and strong culture of collective practice within Indonesia’s art scene. This year, the section brings together 39 participants from cities across the country.

Meanwhile, AJX brings Art Jakarta and various local and international institutions to showcase presentations that offer insights into the region’s current flair. Returning for its second year, Korea Focus collaborates with 14 galleries from South Korea with support from the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Arts Management Service. Natta-Cita Art Space (N-CAS) from ISI Bali will also present Balinese contemporary artist-academics.
New this year, SCOPE, supported by National Talent Management for Arts and Culture (MTN Seni Budaya), introduces MTN Market, bringing selected emerging art fairs from across Indonesia to Jakarta. Six initiatives—Mini Art Malang, Artists Art Fair, ART HEY, Maa Ledungga, Hello Goodbye Photo Market and Watercolor Art Fair—will present their programmes and local art communities.

Unmissable Artist and Partner Collaborations
Julius Baer will present a collaboration with Handiwirman Saputra, featuring works from his “Penampang Taut Berpilin” series and new paintings, alongside the interactive “Kuasa Alam (The Might of Nature)”. Bibit and Stockbit will collaborate with Yogyakarta-based artist Endry Pragusta on “Lost at Sea”, while Treasury will present “Gravity of the Unheld”, a multisensory installation by Etza Meisyara, winner of the Treasury Art Prize.

Other highlights include Agnes Hansella’s “Hutan Kabel”, presented with iForte and Protelindo Group, and Aji Fajar/Palette Studio’s The Curiosity Engine for TACO. SUPERMUSIC will present winners of its ART MEETS MUSIC competition, while MR.D.I.Y. will showcase the seven winners of its 2026 Indonesia Art Competition alongside six awardees from Malaysia and Thailand. The programme also features collaborations with Mai Yokoyama, Darbotz and Iwan Tirta, alongside presentations by EDISII and Aesop.

These partnerships offer a broader view of contemporary art across Indonesia and Southeast Asia while strengthening connections between the country’s diverse art ecosystems and the wider Asian art market.
