On August 28, the first Art Swing took place in Shanghai — a new tennis meetup from LARRY’S LIST Art Tennis Club and m2m Tennis Club, built on one idea: art doesn’t have to stay inside the gallery. After a great turnout, the next sessions are set for November, timed alongside Shanghai Art Week.
Why Tennis and Art Go Together
For collectors, gallerists and artists who already meet at fairs and openings, the court gives them another way to connect. Once the game starts, conversation comes easier.
How the First Event Went
Players could join in three ways: a competitive match, a beginner group led by a coach, or simply watching and cheering from the side. Some played hard, some picked up a racket for the first time, and some just came to support friends. That mix is exactly what Art Swing is about. Even the trophy was a piece of art — a limited woodcut print by artist Wang Yizhou, made with MuXi Gallery and Moodsea Art Gallery, with only ten prints per color.
