Launching this February, Sotheby’s Institute of Art and LARRY’S LIST are joining forces to bring arts education to Hong Kong. Exclusive to the partnership is the in-person professional course, Collecting Art Today, in which participants will immerse themselves in the Hong Kong art scene during Hong Kong art week this March through private and public collection visits, talks from art world experts and networking opportunities. Other educational experiences on offer include live online classes covering topics such as art business and luxury marketing, all with a focus on the Asia region, plus study tours across Asia. The first study tour will explore South Korea’s Art Busan in May with more destinations to be announced later.
On the occasion of offering the first online live course—International Art Business, and in collaboration with Sotheby’s Institute, LARRY’S LIST highlights six key reasons to take the next step in your art world journey and join us for our arts education program.

Immerse yourself in the art world and discover the intricacies of the Asian art market through LARRY’S LIST’s unparalleled access to the Asian art scene and collector community. While all courses include real-world insights from experts located within the region, the in-person Collecting Art Today program allows you to gain hands-on knowledge and experience in navigating the art world while exploring the dynamic environment that is Hong Kong during art week. Expand your understanding of the Asian art scene, connect with influential figures in the industry and develop the skills needed to navigate the complexities of the art market.

2.    A chance to network like no other

Build your professional network by joining the programs. In small-sized cohorts, you will meet industry professionals, experts in the field and like-minded students either online or in intimate settings. Joining the inaugural online experience, you will become part of a network art world professionals that share a special connection. Expect to engage with your peers and build relationships that extend beyond the programs and study tours, expanding your network, exchanging ideas and forging valuable connections that can contribute to your future success.

3.    Join the global network of Sotheby’s Institute of Art former students

Upon completing your chosen course (or courses), you will become part of the extensive community of Sotheby’s Institute past students. Build your international network with fellow former students who have made their marks in the global art market and access opportunities for continuing education, exclusive benefits and more.

4.    Learn from industry leaders

Learn directly from distinguished art world professionals who are leaders in their fields, such as founders of private museums and art foundations, academics and auction house specialists. Experts joining various programs of the partnership include Gareth Fletcher, director of art and technology at Sotheby’s Institute of Art; Désiré Feuerle, founder of The Feuerle Collection private museum in Berlin; and Wiyu Wahono, renowned Indonesian art collector. Tap into theirs and others’ wealth of knowledge as they share their real-world career stories and best practices for succeeding in their chosen roles. This is your opportunity to get your questions answered by art world insiders and be inspired as to what you can achieve on your own art world path.

5.    Boost your career with a competitive edge

Upon successful completion of the courses or tours, participants will receive a certificate from Sotheby’s Institute of Art, a recognised global leader in arts education. This credential can make your CV stand out and add a competitive edge, proving your commitment to enhancing your knowledge and skills in the art world as well as demonstrating the breadth of your professional network through connection to the Institute’s alumni.

6.    Explore private collections

Thanks to LARRY’S LIST’s collector network, enjoy privileged access to some of Asia’s most prestigious private collections, typically not open to the public.
