International expansion and future ambitions
Walter Seidl and Jan Gustav Fiedler, co-chairs of the Curatorial & Advisory Board, express their excitement about this edition of SPARK Art Fair Vienna, “We are delighted that we have been able to boost the number of international galleries and artists once again this year. We aim to develop this trend further in future editions of SPARK.” This global outreach enhances the diversity of artistic voices, providing attendees with a truly international perspective on contemporary art.

Carefully selected artists
This year’s line-up includes carefully selected established artists and also young, up-and- coming artists. The unique concept of only exhibiting solo presentations offers a deeper understanding of the artists creative process and enables exciting (re)discoveries. Athens-based curator Marina Fokidis and Zurich-based curator Christoph Doswald, who both also sit on the curatorial board, have been instrumental to this process, shaping the lineup with their diverse perspectives on today’s contemporary art.

Collaborations with Viennese museums and art institutions
SPARK Art Fair has forged partnerships with significant Viennese museums and art institutions, amplifying the visitor experience in contemporary Vienna. These collaborations enrich the dialogue between the fair and the city’s cultural landscape, creating a dynamic synergy. Attendees can expect a holistic immersion into Vienna’s vibrant contemporary art scene.

Digital SPARK Studio platform and virtual tour
Embracing the digital age, the new SPARK Studio digital platform offers international audiences interesting insights and networking opportunities. Prior to the fair, the first gallery highlights, artworks, and installations will be available for viewing online. Even after the fair concludes, this digital content will remain accessible, extending the reach and impact of the artistic offerings.

Vienna as an artistic hub
SPARK 2024 aligns its curatorial concept with the motto “The City in Dialogue,” focusing on Vienna as a historical and contemporary hub for national and international artists. Curator Marina Fokidis emphasizes Vienna’s status as the most liveable city in the world, with SPARK 2024 celebrating the city’s artistic richness and influence on the international art community.

Cinematic exploration at GLOBE Theatre
Breaking new ground, SPARK 2024 introduces a special program on the GLOBE theatre stage in Vienna’s MARX HALLE. A curated film program featuring works by selected gallery artists will be showcased on a cinema screen, offering a unique intersection of visual art and cinema. The theatre will also host an accompanying performance and discourse program, including a series of talks on diverse topics like “Artificial Intelligence” and “The Beauty of Diversity.”
