The serial entrepreneur and angel investor, Moran Bar-Kochva, entered the art collecting scene while closely interacting with young artists from Tel-Aviv in their studios. After multiple consecutive art acquisitions from his artist friends led him to create an eclectic collection of contemporary art. The art and music aficionado is the cofounder of the non-for-profit organisation The Contemporaries, with the focus to expand the circle of contemporary art supporters and collectors, allowing the public to interact with the art in a more intimate setting for active engagement.
Previously, Bar-Kochva  founded the New York-based investment firm, Capital Partners, focused on early stage investments in IT, mobile, social media and startup companies.

Larry’s List sat down with Bar-Kochva while we asked him the instrumental role art collectors have in the art world as well as how The Contemporaries bring the latest and greatest contemporary art into the art world.

I think collectors in today’s world are among the more opinionated. They are the people who connect the artist and the art world to what we see today and in the future.
